1. What is Message Backup?
Message Backup is a service that lets you backup and restore your SMS and MMS which can be managed on the web.

2. How is SMS or MMS being backup?
Select the SMS or MMS that you wish to backup & send to 22587.

3. How to restore the messages onto the phone?

4. Who can use this Message Backup?
The service is open to all Maxis subscribers.

5. Where can I register the service?
To register type REG and send SMS to 22587.

6. How many SMS and MMS can be stored? Is there limit in file size (kB) capacity for MMS?
You can backup up to 1000 SMS messages and 100 MMS messages, irrespective of the message size.

7. What are the charges for this service?
You will be charged monthly subscription of RM2:

To backup/retrieve the message:
   SMS - RM0.15/SMS
   MMS - RM0.25/MMS

8. Can I terminate the service anytime?
Yes. To terminate the service, type STOP and send to 22587.

9. I have forgotten the password. Can I get a new one?
Yes. Please click "Forgot password" on main login page and follow steps.

10. What happens if the SMS or MMS that I have backed up exceed the limit?
Currently you are allowed to backup up to 1000 SMS and 100 MMS. You will need to delete some messages to continue backing up. In future, we will be offering packages which will allow you to store more messages.

11. Can the Message Backup support Chinese (traditional & simplified) characters and other characters?
Yes it does support Chinese characters as well as other characters. This would also be subjected to phone compatibility.

12. Can I access my entire messages via the Maxis website?
Yes. All you need to do is to login to your Message Backup web account to access all your messages.

13. What do I need to have in order to use the service?
You need to register for Message Backup service. To manage the messages in your account, internet access is required.

14. Can I save or print my messages from Message Backup web?
Messages can be printed by selecting the "print" button from the Message Editor screen. A new window will be displayed, showing a printer-friendly version of the message. You can then print the message by going to the window "File" menu and selecting "print". Message can also be saved by selecting "Save As" from the "File" menu of the window.

15. Can I backup my message whilst out of the country?
Yes you can still use Message Backup whilst roaming. Please take note, that normal international roaming charges applies for all the transaction you make (e.g. GPRS/3G/SMS/MMS).

16. What happens when I lose my mobile phone and SIM card? Do I need to register again?
Your account and messages will still be active as long you maintain the same mobile number. You need not register for the service.

17. Are my messages secured?
Your messages are stored in a secured server. Every measure is taken to protect your messages.

18. I accidentally deleted a message from the web. Can I retrieve it ?
Deleted messages are erased completely from the Message Box.

19. Can I modify my message on Message Backup Web?
Yes you can modify your SMS messages on the Web. Just remember to select "Save" to save your new message.

20. I am using Multi SIM. Can I backup my messages to all my phones?
You would not be able to backup all the SIM card at once. The backup is designated for the active SIM only.

21. I am using Multi-Line. Can I backup all my lines?
Each mobile no. will be treated as a separate Message Backup account. User will need to register for the service separately for each mobile no.

22. If I unsubscribe to Message Backup, then I decided to subscribe back, can I still get my previous messages?
Once you have unsubscribed to this service, you will not be able to use the Message Backup. However, your messages will be kept for limited time only. If you subscribe again within the limited time, you could access to the protected messages.
